PTA / Fundraising

What is Ford End PTA?
Our PTA’s role is to encourage closer links between home and school. The activities help to bring our parents together and promote good communication between parents and staff while working towards a common goal.

How is the PTA organised?
Our PTAs hold their Annual General Meeting in October, at the start of the school year. At this meeting a Committee is elected to run the PTA – consisting of a Chairperson, at present it is Alison Skinner, a Treasurer, Kevina Goodchild, a Secretary, Sandra Brown and Committee members. Our PTA Committees usually meet once a term and set up smaller working groups to organise individual events.

How is money raised?
We hold two main events each year – a Christmas Bazar and a Summer Fayre. Other smaller events include, a disco, our favourite is the Easter egg hunt. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas.

How is money spent?
Funds raised by the PTA are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school’s main income – often ‘fun things’ that make learning more interesting and exciting.

The PTA committee and the head teacher discuss how to spend PTA funds. In the past year we have bought computers, playground equipment and smaller purchases such as Easter Eggs and presents for Father Christmas to distribute.

How can I be involved in my Ford End PTA?
There are many different ways you can help with the PTA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not.

Some of the roles are time-consuming, although also rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can do less frequently (e.g. running a stall at the Summer Fayre, baking for a cake sale).
