Children's view on what they want to learn

Children’s view on what they want to learn

Homework  is set  in each class although the amount and type varies significantly with the child’s age.

In class 1 children should be read to, enjoy sharing a book with and read to an adult daily. They will also be given sound s or words to learn as appropriate as well as have number bonds to learn.  Additional homework may occasionally be set as required.

In class 2 it expected that children read daily to an adult, do spelling homework and learn their tables. In addition they will receive one piece of written work a week.  More extended pieces of written homework or research may also be set from time to time.

Class 3 have the same as class 2 but usually with a piece of Maths and English each week. Some more extended independent tasks may be set to run over a number of weeks. Children in year six who attend booster classes will have additional homework for these.

We ask parents to support their child’s learning by helping them with reading, spelling and number bonds/ tables but to ensure that other tasks set are done independently.  If a child is unsure how to do a task please speak to the class teacher at least the day before it is due in (usually Tuesday).
